Dancing Dogs Yoga is Beaufort, South Carolina’s power yoga studio, and is dedicated to empowering people and communities. DDY offers power yoga classes, workshops and teacher training, and is currently growing, expanding, and building our yoga community.
We are located at 1211 Newcastle Street, unit 2F, upstairs in Newcastle Square at Boundary and Newcastle Streets, directly behind Grace & Glory.
Dancing Dogs Yoga was founded by Shelley Lowther in January 2010. A long time yoga student and newly dedicated yoga teacher, Shelley noticed a lack of yoga services offered in the Beaufort area. She opened Dancing Dogs Yoga with an intention to love all, and serve all. After meeting Baron Baptiste in 2011, Shelley’s path became clear and DDY has evolved into the empowering and vibrant center of community that it is today.
In addition to offering power vinyasa yoga classes in the tradition of Baron Baptiste, DDY also offers Therapeutics, kids and prenatal classes, and Community Yoga to serve those who need, but may not be able to afford, a regular yoga practice. With Dancing Dogs Yoga, Shelley is realizing a vision of creating a yoga experience that would heal body, mind, and spirit.
Thich Nhat Hanh said, “Breath is the bridge which connects life to consciousness, which unites your body to your thoughts.” Dancing Dogs Yoga hopes to bridge the gap between the yoga needs of the Beaufort Community and the resources to fill those needs. In the true spirit of yoga, Dancing Dogs pledges to be accessible to everyone.
As yoga is organic, so is Dancing Dogs Yoga! We are always in the process of making things better, so please pass along your wants and needs, including special needs and class times. Our ears, and our hearts, are open.
